For Cardwell General Store and Campground: First, this property is under new ownership as of summer 2021 so all reviews on this or other sites written before that are no longer applicable. The new owners are helpful, friendly and available without being overbearing. And they keep the property in top top shape. The property consists of 40ish (refer to official description for true number) camp sites, most of which appeared to be pull throughs that could accommodate large rigs, and at least some of which are definitely full service, as opposed to comments in another review. There is also a fantastic store up front that sells a good selection of camping supplies as well as local Montana gifts and an attached coffee/ice cream/candy store. The associated gas station is helpful too. Bathhouses were spotless with two large showers plus toilets. Wifi was blazing, especially when accounting for the camps location. And location is pretty banging. Right off the highway at the beginning of a direct route south to Yellowstone and it's surroundings. Close by and not to be missed are the Lewis and Clark Caverns as well as a natural hot spring on the river if you can find the right person to direct you to it. The next door town of Whitehall has a few restaurants and stores including a great little shop selling vintage western wear that relocated from Bozeman. All in all a fantastic RV park that should be first on your list if headed through the area. Be aware most of Montana, especially nearby our 2 big National Parks, is popular during summer months so use their website to reserve ahead of time.

For Cardwell General Store and Campground: Only 4 Stars because no full hook ups
May have something to do with proximity to the stream
They have a dump station, clean and easy to get to.
Only stayed 2 nights. Stayed on back loop so I90 noise was not that bad.
Would not hesitate to stay again.

For Cardwell General Store and Campground: We were surprised. This is a very nice RV park. Well kept and a great place to do laundry. The laundry room and the machines are very clean. We love the store, it has everything you may need including ice cream. We will stay here again.

For Cardwell General Store and Campground: At a rate of $50 a night, we first thought it was pricey, but it’s not when you look at the going price in the area. Plus you get free, clean, spacious, newly renovated showers and laundry, as well as working WiFi. Only about 4 campers besides us in the whole lot. Checkin quick and friendly. White noise from the interstate, but that didn’t bother us for the night.

For Cardwell General Store and Campground: I appreciate this spot. Lots of open space, it wasn't crowded, maybe 6 total RVs. Nice views of foothills. Yes, there is highway noise but I find it better than the cruisers in the Wal-Mart of last night. Nothing is fancy but it was clean, and shower was huge and not coin operated. It was a little spendy but prolly going rate so close to Yellowstone. Planning on trying their espresso in the morning. I would definitely stay here again.

For Cardwell General Store and Campground: Stay in November so only one other rv there....that was nice! Arrived after dark, almost closing time. The check in girl was nice but a stickler for the rules.....even though we were the only rig there (one came in in the middle of the night), she made me walk out to our rig (remember it’s late November so it’s cold) to get my license plate number even though she know the make and model of our rig, I know they have there rules but really it’s off season. Other than that it’s a very nice park. The store is really cool and has great gifts, chocolates/candy and espresso! Would definitely recommend.
