For KOA Holiday St Mary East Glacier: The campground is well named. There are 360 degree views of the mountains or wooded hills everywhere in the upper, away from the lake, part of the camp where the RV area is. Looking around I decided the best sites where along the western or northern perimeter where you can get the most unobstructed views. There are open fields on those sides. The facilities we used were very nice. The trinkets for sale were of good quality, there was a good selection of necessary things for us RVers. There is also a coffee and ice cream bar. The ice cream was yummy. All the cabins I walked past seemed to be well kept and in good repair. There was lots of grass and scattered trees in the upper section. I took a walk on a very nice nature trail in the lower part next to the lake. The were cabins there were nicely sited at the edge of the trees. The tent sites looked fantastic. Each one in the mixed aspen wood with lots of vegetation separating them. The lake was accessible and a couple of tent sites next the lake. We certainly would come back. Overall it was tops so we gave it a 5 star. A word about forest fires. Our 2017 trip to West Glacier, there is an exceptional KOA there, was totally ruined by smoke blowing north-east from fires as far away as California. Then there was the fire on south side of lake McDonald. The same is true this year except the fire was on the north side. This year we learned of two tools t help us avoid the smoke and fires: 1. Inciweb where all fire incidents are displayed on an interactive map. Fire status is updated daily. 2. NOAA’s hazard mapping system that shows a color-coded smoke density updated daily. Your search engine should find the sites with no problem. This year the smoke was abated by some rainy weather coming through and many of the fires abating. Hope this helps.

For KOA Holiday St Mary East Glacier: We stayed at the St. Mary KOA for 4 nights in late August. Cost was $75 per night. This is campground has many pluses including close proximity to Glacier NP, full hookups, nice clean bathhouse, nice laundry facility, playground, family oriented, Red Bus pickup, spacious sites, well stocked camp store and gift store. Some sites for larger rigs even had brick patios with grills and lawn furniture. Our site (C1) wasn’t very level but most others appeared to be. There is also coffee and ice cream on site. Even better you could order a pizza there which was actually very good and they deliver it right to your site. Really nice when you’re been out all day hiking and enjoying the park. There is also a BBQ dinner and pancake breakfast everyday which we did not take advantage of. The only things I didn’t like where lack of trees at most sites and the cost. Having said that, the staff couldn’t have been more friendly and I would stay here again if I were back in the area. Almost forgot to mention there are bikes, kayaks and paddle boards you can check out to use. And there is a nice trail down to a lake.

Sallie

For KOA Holiday St Mary East Glacier: This is a very nice park, although in my opinion it is pricey ($80). Staff was very friendly and helpful. I particularly liked one feature: at your convenience you can order a pizza (which is very good) in the office and tell them what time you want it delivered to your campsite. That was a very nice perk. One thing I did not like - their internet and phone service is nonexistent unless you are a Verizon customer. We also had no TV service. We could not cook out because the wind was so bad, we were afraid we would start a fire. Other than those inconveniences, the campground was good. We camped at St. Mary / East Glacier KOA in a Motorhome, towing a car.

Denise

For KOA Holiday St Mary East Glacier: Expensive park (avg $75 a night) but the location was great to both St. Mary Glacier entrance and close to Many Glacier entrance. We have 43’ 5th wheel and it was very tight getting around. Had to request 3 sites before we found one we could get into. The gentleman taking us to our site worked with the office staff to get us a site that accommodated us. We did have to back out of our site and take a road to exit the park because we were too long to make the turn at the end of the road. We didn’t use any of the amenities but there was plenty for families. Our site wasn’t level but not that bad. If you have a long rig take Hwy 464 to get to the park versus hwy 2. This was noted on my email confirmation from KOA so I was pleased they told me this. Again great location for Glacier NP and we enjoyed the East side of the park the best. We also drove to Waterton NP in Canada from this park.

Don

For KOA Holiday St Mary East Glacier: Just outside the east entrance, check
Large level sites, check
Not sure of view, smoky fires nearby
Pool and hot tub, nice
Wifi is adequate for checking emails only no tv reception
Now, the campground and site areas are basically desert theme. Dirt roads and sites. Scrub grass between sites and picnic tables will give you slivers. Why they didn't plant some trees is beyond me, there is a forest of them around here. Obviously they grow well and by themselves
Price is highest we've ever paid anywhere across the county. $75. Wow!
Stayed here Sept. 2017
