For Shields RV Park: Very clean campground on Navy Sea Bee base. Old section has zero shade/privacy, but If you just need to rest for a couple days it’s fine. Recommend the newer section near the park/lake for some shade for longer stays, but still same layout as old section. The only negative was the lack of privacy. We were in 101 in the newer area on the end and still felt we were on display and everywhere you looked all you saw was trailers. We were backed up to the trees in back and field to one side, so I’d recommend this site. Don’t know anything about a salt water pool or gym as we weren’t told about them. The positives are terrific exchange, commissary, and quick stop at the gas station and the bathroom (new section) is without doubt the finest I have ever seen. Price was $25 per day and you could stay 6 months at a time. Seemed to be a fair amount of active duty staying there, not as many “campers” as expected. Sooo quiet but absolutely well maintained. The best attraction is the very clean beach (heavy equipment vacuums it every day). Gulfport is the “anti” Gulfshores. Whole different “vibe” here. Highly recommend this place . A map would be great of the base to find the cg if you had it in advance. It didn’t show up in the confirmation email they sent. Go straight thru Pass Rd gate for several miles to newer cg.. Everybody we encountered, especially troops were very respectful and courteous. We were privileged to have lunch at the “Galley” with the troops (not an everyday allowed thing). For every day meals the “Grill” is great! Very good food and service. The “Battalion Burger” was way too much for one person so keep that in mind. You can’t get your mouth around it. Very good though.

For Shields RV Park: A gem! We stayed in the RV sites by the lake. Beautiful! There is a laundry room and bath house. The gym is very nice and the salt water pool is attached (we spent a lot of time at each). The commissary is small but satisfied our needs. The Gulf is a short drive from the base - lots of public access. The staff are friendly and provide lots of information on what to do in the area and where to eat. You are only about 80 miles from New Orleans if you want to take a day trip.

For Shields RV Park: We stayed in the upper, older area with our 44ft 5th wheel. We stayed in back-in site 12. Spaces are concrete, level and are very spacious. Didn’t utilize restrooms. Laundry is small but adequate. Commissary & exchange are smaller but fine. Restaurants & shopping are very close by in town. Good walking & poop stations for the dogs. The area outside of the gate is not the greatest but didn’t have any issues. Trains run nearby but didn’t keep us up. Beaches & Biloxi are close by. The staff are very nice. We would definitely stay here again.

For Shields RV Park: There is 2 camping areas, one older and one that is newer. We stayed in the older one. All sites are paved, bathrooms were clean and the staff was very friendly. There is a train nearby that runs a few times. Would stay here again.

For Shields RV Park: Awesome military park. Clean restrooms and good (not great) laundry. Staff were awesome. Lots are good sized. Roads and pads are level and nice. Easy in and out the gate. Don’t sit in the grass, even in a chair! You’ll thank me for that tip because I found out the hard way.

Duane Peck

For Shields RV Park: We stayed in the new addition. It’s quite a ways from the main area but it’s nicer than those by the gate which is considered the old part. It’s quiet and there is a great dog park just around the corner. It was initially very hard to get a call back but it seems the staff is very limited. Restrooms and showers are very nice. We paid $19 per night because we stayed more than 7 days. No cable but you get local channels and depending on your TV antenna and the weather you can get New Orleans and Mobile stations. Enterprise Rent A Car not that far away if needed. We would definitely return.
