Patti

For Smiths Fork Campground: I have been calling for the past two days to cancel our reservation due to a family emergency. I have reached a recording each time. No one has had the decency to call me back. I was planning on maybe changing the date to another time, but I just read another review that said they wouldn't even do that. I won't be making the mistake of ever trying to get into this campground ever again.

Jamie

For Smiths Fork Campground: I would have given zero stars if possible. We booked a one week reservation for July 5-12. We called on July 1 to cancel and we’re told they do not give refunds. I tried to change the dates. They don’t allow changes either. So we just wasted $245. I double checked their website. It does so no refunds but it does not say anything about no changes to reservations.

Ryan

For Smiths Fork Campground: It’s a really nice parking lot near a lake with poorly maintained bathrooms. Perfect spot for a night or two, but no more.

For Smiths Fork Campground: Camped Aug. 12th 2015 campsite #12. Started out bad and got worst. They would not let me drive thru the campground to pick out a site had to walk, not fun if your disabled. Hooked up at #12 and everything was fine until the breakers started tripping. Checked my plug and it was starting to melt. Plugged into site next to me and didn't have any problems. Since I worked electrical for 40 years I knew the problem was a poor connection on their side so I stopped a maintenance worker and told him about the problem, he said the manager would stop by to talk to me. Never came by. Called the following Monday and talked to the manager and she said she would call me back the next day, two weeks later still no call back. This is a dangerous problem and could start a fire so they should be more interested in solving the problem but they seem uninterested. There are 2 other campsites nearby that are probably a better choice that isn't ran by the city of Smithville.

Don

For Smiths Fork Campground: Have stayed here many, many times. Before have rated it very high. Called today to learn, that if you have a 50amp rig, you are only allowed to stay in a 50 amp site. And they don't have many, and what they have are booked well into the future. I ask about staying in a 30 amp site and was told; new regulations do not allow any power pig tails. So if your rig has 50 amps, you can only stay in a 50 amp site. DAH? Some city official decided for some reason to ban pigtail power adapters. Local management and electricians have challenged the rule. But the local bureaucracy isn't listening.

For Smiths Fork Campground: Lovely, clean campground. We stayed here late April and it filled up on the weekend. Very reasonable rates. Will stay again when visiting family in the area.
