For River Ranch RV Park and Campground: This place, no doubt popular for river float trips and kayaking, embodies the virtual opposite of what RV’ers seek. The sites and grounds are mostly dirt and gravel with sparse grass. Hookups are decrepit. There are open trash drums scattered around. Our fire ring was littered with beer cans. Nearby campers played loud music til midnight. Heavy alcohol use was widespread. Astoundingly, the campground charges not by the site but by the number of occupants, so a family of four would pay $64 while a solo traveler just $16, for the same site, in the same RV. On top of that, there is a pet fee of $12 per day per pet, and over 30 dog breeds are banned outright. I don’t think we have ever encountered a worse campground..
