For Main - Maplewood State Park: I wish I could give this state park 4 1/2 stars as I cannot find many flaws. The main campground has all electric sites located on a small canoeing lake. Many of the campsites are wooded and spread out with moderate privacy while others are more open. Our site 16 was very large, private and located right on the lake with great views of the sunset. The restroom/shower building is brand new and much needed as the old one was, well, old. The middle campground loop road has been recently repaved. There are many hiking trails and good biking though riding would be mostly limited to park roads. Make sure to take the easy hike to Hallaway Hill Overlook for great views the the area. The larger Beers Lake looks like a good fishing lake but has a speed limit. For boating you will need to trailer a distance 2yszktto the boat landing on the large South Lida Lake. It’s not a place to leave your boat overnight so plan to pull it out each evening. Cell coverage was adequate but not strong. Our favorite sites are 5, 7, 8, 10, 13, 15, 16, 17, 23, 26 and 32. The best pairs of sites are 7 & 16, and 13 & 32. With all the small lakes in the area we expected our mid-August stay would include a battle with millions of mosquitoes. Shockingly there were no mosquitoes. None! Even after dark. Maybe I should have given 5 stars.
