For Chain of Lakes Campground: Located on the north side of the Twin Cities, this county campground has a feel that you’re much farther from the metro than you are. The vast majority of the electric sites are large, wooded and well spaced. The electric sites also have water hookups which are really convenient. Many of the sites are surrounded by walls of vines growing over trees and shrubs creating very private spaces. The non-electric sites tend to be shorter and a little less private. There is just one centrally located restroom building that is clean and modern but doesn’t seem large enough to accommodate a busy weekend. There is a nice beach within a short walk from the campground. Also a boat landing with ample parking although you will want to pull out and keep your boat at your campsite at night. The chain of lakes is ideal for canoeing and kayaking. Be sure to bring your bikes as there are wooded, paved trails though-out the area ideal for riding. For the kids there are 2 play areas with slides and swings. One negative is you are surrounded by lakes and marshes so bring your bug spray. Another, the campground is located not too far from I-35W which you will hear off in the distance. I will easily give this campground 5 stars.

For Chain of Lakes Campground: My Wife and I have been camping for over 20 years and have never had a problem with the campgrounds until now. The people at the office were uninterested in us checking in! Very slow! Filled out the form and later had to fill it out again at our campsite! The printer didn’t work so they said they would send an email of the receipt! No e-mail! $96.40 to camp for two weekday nights. That’s without reservation fees because we paid at the office! It did include water and electricity! Went to get ice and they told me there not selling ice this year! Even though they they have a huge ice cooler! Will never go back!
