For Straits State Park: About location here... older campground with only electric. Grass sites, some mud when it rains... and some unlevel. Views of lake can be found but most sites are in trees and you can't see lake. Fees for what you get are on the high side. Park is maintained fairly well. #HisRoadTrip www dot HisRoadTrip dot com

For Straits State Park: This park is in a scenic location, the checkin building and staff are helpful, the restroom/shower facilities are acceptable. However, the sites are very poorly constructed- unlevel, mostly dirty-dirt with sparse grass --the dirtiest we've encountered across the nation. Most sites only have electric, and staying is very expensive; after adding the daily vehicle pass, a night is pushing $40, way too expensive for the poor sites and lack of hook-ups. Private rv parks in this area offer far better hookups & amenities for the same cost or a few dollars more. Reservation fee is also higher than any we've encountered elsewhere.

For Straits State Park: We were looking for a base from where we could bike/walk to local attractions, including Mackinac Island. We're self-contained and don't use the facilities except for an occasional shower. We stayed on weeknights in July.
This is a nice campground yet loses a star due to road noise from proximity to the interstate. However, it gets an extra star for location. There are several places throughout the park (including some sites) with gorgeous views of Lake Huron, the Mackinac Bridge and Mackinac Island. There's a grocery store .25 mile away and downtown St. Ignace including the 3 ferry docks and several restaurants are all within 1.5 miles.
The park is clean and well maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful. There're two lower loops and one upper loop. We stayed in a lower loop. There's a wide variety of sites - larger, small, shade, sun, views. There are pull-throughs in the upper loop. Most are electric, some are primitive. There's no wifi. Cell service for Verizon is weak yet usable, ATT is ok.
There are several swimming areas and hiking trails throughout the park.

For Straits State Park: Fairly nice campground. Sites are somewhat close together for the most part. Our site 225 was actually quite nice being it was at the end of a row. All we saw were trees and the occasional walker or driver. Nice new fire ring. A tad pricy for the amenities which were few. We saw sites near the lake with views which were nice but again close to their neighbors. Would stay here again.

For Straits State Park: Loved this campground location! Beautiful spot...shady, great for biking and hiking, and maybe fishing too even though we didn't get to try this visit. Nice and close to ferries for Mackanac Island so we rode our bikes right to ferry location and took them with us over to the island. Campground site well maintained. We stayed in lower campsite and got in and out easy with our 31 ft RV. Would go here again without hesitation!

For Straits State Park: Beautiful campground well maintained with spacious pull thru and back in sites in the upper campground. Reliable electric. Great biking on paved roads and hiking trails to lake and bridge views. Friendly staff and good info on the Michigan UP. Would definitely return.

For Straits State Park: We camped here in our 40 foot motorhome in the upper campground. Lots of trees and space. Beautiful spot. I would have given it five stars except for the distant freeway white noise. Slept well. Great walking trails and bicycling.
