For Lake Michigan NF Campground: Bring Earplugs!! Beautiful Campground and Sandy Beach on beautiful Lake Michigan. But you are non the less camping within about 100’ from US Highway 2, which is the main East West artery through the UP. There is moderately heavy semi traffic 24-7. Our small Honda generator set outside on a 25’ cord produced less decibels than the road noise at 100’.
And.. BTW, in the 5+ hours of daylight we were there before dark, the campground host which is a paid contractor to the National Park Service to be available (at least part of the time), was never there and did not return a call from us for more than 5 hours.
As my friend had an important question regarding check-in and his rig/gear, he called the Forest Service Office before he and I dropped our payment’s into the collection box. While the website was unclear about the rule we had questions about regarding the equipment he needed to run for his medical condition, the field office said “if it were up to them they would make accommodation, the final decision was with the contracted host, (who called back more than 5 hours later and unilaterally said “noâ€.)

For Lake Michigan NF Campground: Campground is noisy from highway nearby. But the Lake Michigan Beach is nearby, secluded and very quiet!

For Lake Michigan NF Campground: Very clean nice. Many spots have a short trail to Lake Michigan but still big drop to the beach. Hosts are very nice but feel the no check in before 2pm is a bit off. You can take the spot but pay for an extra day! Noise from hwy2 is bad. Jack brakes galore. Will be back!

For Lake Michigan NF Campground: This National Forest campground is an excellent place to stay. Lake side spots back up to Lake Michigan. Some have views of the lake while others are protected by dunes. Private maintenance does a good job keeping things nice. Only warnings are road noise (not all that bad) and poor cell service if it matters. A great UP campground with a mile of open beach.

For Lake Michigan NF Campground: Great spot, BUT noisy from highway close by. Over the sand due and you are swimming in Lake Michigan

For Lake Michigan NF Campground: This was some night stay. We were getting tired and needed a place to sleep. The place was clean well maintained. Our only complaint is that you are only 30 yards off of the main road so it was loud. We would use it again just to sleep.
