For Twelvemile Beach Campground - Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore: A basic campground set right on Lake Superior. I was lucky enough to get a site on the lake, just 50 steps or so to the overlook directly behind my site. Unfortunately, some other couple had set up a couple of hammocks there & made it into their own private campsite which made for some somewhat uncomfortable moments trying to enjoy the sunset myself. Sites were spaced nicely. I didn’t check out the restrooms, so can’t comment on them. But, there was zero cell/internet coverage anywhere in the park, except on the very east/west edges near the towns. Mosquitos are no joke here. Bring your head nets & plenty of repellent. They are relentless. This is a gorgeous little park & I recommend also taking the boat tour to get some great views of it. I wish I could have done more hiking around the park, but the rain put an end to my exploring.

For Twelvemile Beach Campground - Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore: Beautiful primitive campground with views of Lake Superior. Reservations are required, but there’s no cell reception at campground. Check for spots online before you arrive!

For Twelvemile Beach Campground - Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore: As of July 2019, you must have reservations for this campground. This is a primitive campground, but truly stunningly beautiful! Come prepared, because the only thing they offer is primitive toilets and a water fountain, which is not to say you could fill up your tank with it. Many sites overlook the beach, and the sun sets over the water, just beautiful. Sites are spaced well apart and very peaceful. Hikers go through, but that’s fine. We stayed 2 nights and had a great time.

For Twelvemile Beach Campground - Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore: The campground is beautiful, especially the water front sites. It is pretty far from the towns on either side, so come prepared. We arrived on a Thursday in late June and were able to get a site at 10 am. While we were there, sites opened every morning but were filled by mid-day. There is no cell crevice or internet (that we could get). The negatives... it does not have a dump station or place to fill with water, so plan accordingly. We also had quite a mix of weather, from gorgeous to rainy and humid and everything in between. We had a terrible biting fly problem in the humidity and no electricity, so it was hard to go into the trailer to get away from them. But that was only one day that they were horrible.
