For Wilson State Park: I would not stay here again. The fairgrounds is across the street - had their 4th of July fireworks display. Not an issue but people in the campground lit their own fireworks until midnight. Then the motorcycles racing on the road from 2-4 am made for a short night. Sites are random so you may face on neighbor and look at the back of another. Power poles are shared and in some cares a long distance- our neighbors needed 2 full power cords. Dog poop and loose dogs everywhere. One charged our dog. Two young CG workers ended up bringing it back to the owner. The owner then just let it loose again. We mentioned it the workers - they didn’t care said it was a good dog?

For Wilson State Park: Some sites are larger than others, newer bathrooms. I seen a lot of newer picnic tables that are w/c accessible at a lot of sites. We stayed on site 3 which was listed as full shade... there was no shade in the afternoon. The power towers are shared between sites which can put the power box on the wrong side for an Rv. Also many sites seem to be sat up backwards for an rv so you would have to pull in or park sideways but then you need to have more available power cord. Our fire ring was almost right on top of the neighboring site we could have just shared our fire pit basically. Some sites are more private many are very shady. Campground is located off a main road so you will hear traffic from vehicles anywhere in the campground but it isn't too bad. Like others have said the campground is located right across from the fair grounds so if there are events you are going to get the noise from there as well. We stayed during the county fair. I walked down the steps from the actual campground down to the lake. These steps are in bad need of repair they are rotting out. I went down these steps because I couldn't take my puppy on the beach area. The playground was located right behind the dump station. If I had kids or kids with me not sure I would have wanted them to play there. Would I stay here again yes but it would not be my first choice. Many campers seemed to be unaware of or didn't really care to follow the one way directional...that can cause issues with incoming or outgoing RVs. We didn't use the beach area as I couldn't take my puppy down there, and We didn't use the showers but the bathrooms were pretty clean even for the amount of children we seen there. The staff were super friendly and very helpful. There was quite the line for the dump station when we were leaving but one side was closed or they were putting another one in not sure.....heard it was supposed to be open for the weekend, that would help for the wait times.

For Wilson State Park: Just needed 1 night before 4th of July. No problem. Very nice campground. Many level campsites. Some very close to the road, but many well away. Easy access to the lake with a controlled beach and swimming area. Bathrooms and showers are fairly new and very nice. New dump station too. Only $22 for the night. Would definitely stay here again.

For Wilson State Park: We were looking for a campground in the area where we could stay put for the 4th of July weekend. We're self-contained and don't use the facilities.

This campground fit the bill. The campsites are relatively large and nicely shaded with a mix of level and not. The swimming beach is pleasant, although busy on a busy weekend. There is a nice 4-mile walk around the lake and town is an easy half mile walk from the campground. There is no wifi. There's adequate Verizon and ATT coverage.

Note the campground is across the street from the Clare County Fairgrounds. You may want to check events that you may or may not enjoy. We could hear the demolition derby from our campsite.

For Wilson State Park: Sites are pretty big with lots of room. They were pretty leven and even for easier parking, with good shade too at most sites. Baths were clean.
