For KOA Holiday Durham: The positives about this KOA are that it is close to the coastal attractions near Freeport and Brunswick/Bath, the bathrooms were clean and attractive (if a little rustic), the laundry facilities were good with 4 washers and 4 dryers, great camp store, lots of planned activities in-season, and the patio sites are very roomy and worth the upgrade. The negatives are that the water smelled and tasted bad and was very murky. My hose now has a permanent orange stain where the water dripped. The WiFi next to the office was only good for limited email and surfing, any attachments would not load, definitely would not support any streaming (which they prohibit anyway.) You can pay extra for upgraded service (really??). Verizon cell service was 1 bar on LTE, so this wasn’t an option. The camp roads were very dusty and the traffic and employee’s golf carts kicked up a lot of dust. Finally, there was subdued but constant noise from back-up alarms from the gravel pit next door. We stayed a week in a motorhome, and yes I would stay here again just because of the location, but this should not be a KOA Holiday with its increase prices. Patio site $97/night.

For KOA Holiday Durham: Electrical Voltage is too low. Workers blame everything on your setup and leave with “it is what it is.” Camp else where… we won’t be back.

For KOA Holiday Durham: Electric is inadequate, a/c had trouble, most sites had no gravel just mud. They advertise privacy in the woods but there is nothing between sites. We had a long walk to the bathrooms/showers. Muddy roads in terrible condition, no gravel

For KOA Holiday Durham: Checked in, left shortly thereafter. Lost $135 because their power is faulty, 99-103 volts. They did tell me to feel free to run my generator…lol. I think if you can’t provide usable power, you shouldn’t sell full hookup sites. They tried to blame it on the heat and said it was the same all over. Moved to another campground 2 miles away and had no issues.

Don

For KOA Holiday Durham: For $71.00 I would expect a level site . No one at office at 4:30 pm but papers were there and map, etc, No bathrooms or showers were allowed due COVID although the last two Maine RV camps made them available with proper masks, distancing, etc. WiFi worked good.

Mark Rivard

For KOA Holiday Durham: We stayed here for four night the end of October because there were not many other campgrounds open. We checked in just before the office closed and were greater by a very friendly and helpful young lady. Much of the campground is shut down for the winter and they fully close November 1st. Out Pull through site was right in front of the office with full hookups, very level and easy to pull in. No cable but received many over the air stations. There a lot of seasonal and extended stay campers. We spoke to a couple of women that were very with the campground and owners. They spoke of the many activities through the season and that kids seem to enjoy them selves. For us it was just a base to take day trips from. We enjoyed Hiking at several mountains, beaches, and light houses. Shopping at LL Bean and eating at many great restaurants. The laundry worked well (took two cycles to dry) and propane was a fare price sold by the gallon so you only pay for what you get. The owner did say that if anyone wants to stay after they close for the season with electric and sewer he would let them. There is a place to fill your tanks before setting up. We are already talking about coming back with the grand kids next year.
