For Mt Desert Narrows Camping Resort: Best things first: the free Acadia shuttle holds right at the campground. There’s a nice view of the ocean. There’s a new playground for younger kids. But it’s noisy, outdated and not too clean.

Ben

For Mt Desert Narrows Camping Resort: I just want to start off by saying that my wife and I have been full timers since 2019, we've stayed at a lot of places, and this is the first time ever that I've been compelled to write a bad review. 2.5 months ago, we booked Narrows Too campground, specifically because of the amenities and having a site next to the ocean with sewer (which I paid extra to reserve). The big reason we booked this is because we wanted to use the shower/bathrooms/laundry as there would be 4 of us and that is a huge pain with bathroom/shower time inside our RV. Plus, we'd rather do laundry at night rather than during the day while our moms were on vacation. Two days before the first night of our stay, we got a call saying we'd have to go to Narrows Campground instead of Narrows Too, no explanation, in fact the gal who called us didn't know much about Narrows because she worked at Narrows Too and seemed more put out than we were. We drove 3.5 hours only to find out that the bathrooms/showers and laundry weren't ready and that we could not have an oceanfront spot because we'd need sewer, when we asked when they'll be open, she didn't know and wasn't too concerned about our frustration. We later found out from another frustrated camper that Narrows Too had some construction/sewer issues and that's why we had to move, also we were given Manager Fred's phone number to call for complaints. I first called Fred on Wed. May 3rd and left a voicemail; other campers there told us they did the same and he never picked up, but he did come by and tell them they'd get one free night off. I called Fred over and over and left voicemails over and over, talked to some different office ladies who told us they'd let Fred know that I'm looking for him. They too seemed more annoyed to be stuck at Narrows and didn't have much information for us. I continued to call and leave voicemails with my contact information right up until we left on Monday May 8th. Today is Wednesday May 10th, I called around 2pm and left a voicemail once again, then 1 hour later I decided to call using my work phone which rings up as an Alaska number and boy was, I surprised that Fred answered right away, he was obviously screening my calls hoping I'd just go away. Fred was nearly no help at all, he claimed he was just too busy to answer or return calls after a week of me calling and leaving voicemails. Basically, all he did was blame the owners, he agreed that this was unacceptable and bad business, Fred said he tried to get people refunds but the owners refused. When I told Fred I was frustrated that I had to go into town and spend part of my day doing laundry rather than being able to do it there at the campground at night which is advertised on their website, he responded with "Bar Harbor has a nice laundromat". You may not have any of these issues during your stay at Narrows/Narrows Too, but you better not expect Fred or anyone else to lift a finger to help fix anything if you do have a problem. Avoid this place like the plague, spend more money elsewhere or drive 10 more minutes farther and you'll be much happier.

For Mt Desert Narrows Camping Resort: I was somewhat nervous reading other comments from other sites regarding this campground. I found the campground adequate, yes it's outdated but not a bad place to stay. Tons of walking areas for dogs. Bathrooms are maintained well but definitely dated. Island bus service comes to the front and will take you around the island to Bar Harbor. WiFi is useless, at least where we stayed and AT&T Cell Service spotty. I would stay here again but would check other campgrounds in the area.

For Mt Desert Narrows Camping Resort: I agree with all the comments of another posted by Kim. I called 10 campgrounds with no vacancies before calling here. The price is double that of some in this area but there is nothing any better here than the other places. The roads and sites here need some work as far as erosion. Very unlevel driving and parking. We will plan further ahead if we are able to return for a visit. Truly enjoyed Acadia and the Village Center in Bar Harbor. The Island Explorer buses make it so easy to travel about the area.

For Mt Desert Narrows Camping Resort: The staff is super friendly, but the campground is not great for the price. We originally were put in site 101B. It's a small site and very awkward. The site has exposed lawn and there are tire marks gouged into the lawn right about where our stabilizer needs to come down. We asked to move to site 163, which was premium site so we had to pay more. It was a better site for us because the site has gravel. Howver, it was extremely uneven. Our tongue Jack was up almost all the way to be level. The roads within the campground seem to be one way roads but there are no signs of which way people should be driving, so you have to yield if there's a campsite that's not occupied.

For Mt Desert Narrows Camping Resort: Most staff is very friendly. Plenty of room to walk dogs. Different site options with decent prices. WiFi is crap. Increasing seasonal prices for 2019 season by 5%
