For Tolland State Forest: Well, this campground and all others in Massachusetts now get one zero. Why, well up until this season they never applied an out of state premium. Now they do. A campsite that is $17 plus booking fee is now $54 for people like me who are out of state.
Now, my state, Connecticut does not charge a premium for out of state campers so why does Massachusetts do it to me?
So I have written all Massachusetts state parks off my list until they drop the premium. Oh and if you read my review above, this campground doesn’t have a pump out (they abandoned it a few years ago), and filling up with fresh water is difficult. Why go there any more and pay RV resort prices.

For Tolland State Forest: Tolland has been our go to spot for many years. Nice spread out campsites, some of which overlook the lake. But during the last few years changes have been made that cost it 2-3 stars:
Last year they shut down the dump station. It is now the only state campground in the NE with no dump station.
This year they shut off all of the water spigots. The only source of water is the dishwashing station at the restrooms and most of those are too far away to fill your RV from.
Mass needs to invest a little money in upgrading this campground to the 21 century.
