For Maple Springs Group - Mammoth Cave National Park: Let me start by letting you know about a huge detail I didn’t know when we arrived at this campground. If you come into the park from the south you must cross a small ferry to get to the campground. The ferry holds only 3 cars at a time and crosses a river using a cable system and some sort of motor or generator powered wheel. Imagine my surprise when we pulled up (or should I say down.... hill) to it with our Chevy 3500 and 28 ft fifth wheel. The ferry driver did let us cross with our rig but I don’t think that is the norm. And I wouldn’t do it again. Once we arrived at our site it made all the anxiety of the ferry experience melt away. It really was a magnificent place. We had turkey and deer frequent our site throughout the day. WE ALSO HAD A HUGE TIMBER RATTLER SLITHER RIGHT UP TO AND UNDER OUR STEPS. I Almost stepped on it coming out of the camper. It was the largest rattler I’ve ever seen.... Between 4-5 feet long. This campground allows you to sleep right in the wilderness. I would recommend this site only to people who really want to be close to nature. We had zero cell phone service the entire 3 days we stayed.

For Maple Springs Group - Mammoth Cave National Park: Very nice park. Rangers were friendly and bathrooms clean and showers hot. For $20 per night thought it was a good deal.
