For Indiana State Fairgrounds Campground: These spots are literally grass, gravel spots next to the parking lot in the fair grounds. Spots are very tight and when we arrived a large motorhome was in their and our spot. Security came down and gave us a new spot but still tiny. There are showers but there’s no where to put your stuff but the floor and the change area is wide open with still no where to put your things so we didn’t use them. The houses behind were fairly loud on Saturday night.Ubering into downtown you had to walk out to main gate and get dropped off there at night, bit of a trek pretty expensive for what you get. We thought being central would be good but most stores are in the outlying quadrants outside downtown so it’s probably better to just pick a direction to be out in, if not you end up driving more to get to everything instead of just a few things and Ubers weren’t easy to come by.

Mirage
For Indiana State Fairgrounds Campground: Late March stopover on our way through Indy, hoping to camp & bike on Monon Trail. We did ride - beautiful paved trail is adjacent to the camp area. But after looking things over, we decided to move on.
Camping area was nearly empty - usually that’s a good thing but felt creepy in this very urban setting. Sites back up to a tall fence with razor wire at the top, and face a large parking lot. A gate near the bathrooms leads to the bike path. The gate had a chain & lock but it wasn’t locked. Not sure if it would have been secured before night or not. Bathrooms were a dump - literally. Building & fixtures are old - which is ok - but not well maintained. They hadn’t been cleaned and there was trash in the shower stalls that had been there a while. Ick. Definitely not a $45 campsite! Steer clear - or at least check it out first.

For Indiana State Fairgrounds Campground: Good luck finding your way in and out. You can’t turn left off off of fall creek parkway into gate 6. You can get yourself turned around at the next intersection. Gate 16 is theoretically the gate you can use to come and go from the RV area once you arrive but it may or may not be open. There are very bright lights at night so be sure to bring shades if you care. Otherwise WES works. relatively level. The moñón trail is adjacent to the fairgrounds. Just beware you may have to try several gates before you can get out of the fairgrounds to get to it

Ranger Rod
For Indiana State Fairgrounds Campground: I stayed here 2 nights when visiting Butler Univ which was very convenient. The campsites were large and full hook up, but no trees or anything separating the sites. If you like to bike, the Monon trail is right behind the campground so will have to try that next time. The only negative was some car engine revving noise from the area neighborhood at night and the lights at the campground were very bright - like daytime. I used my ear plugs and eye mask and slept well.

Monica snow
For Indiana State Fairgrounds Campground: This place is great! Only $30 per night for full hook up and it’s only four miles to town. The shower is so freaking awesome with very strong water pressure. The road coming in from MI is not bad. Big large space in an open paved field. I would come back again and stay longer.

Pugtracker
For Indiana State Fairgrounds Campground: We stayed here in 2011 and having revisited this area it has gone downhill. Three stars is for the fairgrounds. It is grass and now getting rutted up by all the rigs. I'm giving highway 70 a thumbs down. It is all breaking up, potholed, just a horrible road for rv's. We won't be travelling through this way again. My husband went to fuel up our truck, questionable area around fairgrounds. He came back safe. We also had to stop an hour east due to a flat tire. Not sure if we picked that up at fairgrounds or horrendous roads. Have to ask yourself why so much security present at fairgrounds. Not worth it.

For Indiana State Fairgrounds Campground: Good place to stay for a few nights.
We were passing in Indianapolis and it's easy to find, not far from downtown.
