For Trap Creek Campground: July 2020: A very small campground in a beautiful setting. There are only 3 camp sites and 3 designated parking spaces in this campground. All three sites are divided from the paved campground loop and parking spots by rock and timber fencing and barriers. So the sites are actually tent-only sites with adjacent parking spots. Each site has a picnic table, fire ring and undesignated or improved tent space. All the sites are at least partially shaded by tall pine trees. Potable freshwater is available from a hand-pumped well in the grassy center of the paved campground loop. Only hand-carried containers can be easily filled from the pump, a hose cannot be attached (although someone with a "water bandit" or similar connection device might figure out a way to do so). The entire campground (all three sites) can be reserved together as a block for a set fee, which makes it a "group" campground. If not already reserved entirely for a group, the individual sites can be reserved or occupied on a first-come basis. There is no "day use" parking or area, although we stopped for a short time in one of the parking spaces for lunch, since the sites were not reserved at that time. There is some traffic noise from the highway. In the hour or so we were there, a few cars drove in and parked at a small wide spot in the pavement next to the toilet building, to use the toilet, then moved on. If available, a site here would make a good base from which to explore the nearby area.
