For Thomson Causeway: Has been a favorite ACE campgrounds because of the diversity of wildlife, but the last two times, motorized boats were allowed to enter the marsh inlet where they disrupted feeding egrets, heron, beaver & others while tearing up lily pads & plants. Needless to say that was the last of the wildlife for the night and only geese were back in the morning. As there will always be idiots & jerks a sign restricting motorized boats right of the boat ramp to the inlet should be posted and enforced.

For Thomson Causeway: I can’t say it much better than “Corey” said it below. This is a wonderful, peaceful and serene campground. We stayed in the River camp area Monday - Thursday as things were just starting to open up with COVID-19. River camp area has a few buddy sites that were perfect when traveling with friends. Nice views, beautiful sunsets. We didn’t use the bathhouse but I heard it was pretty clean. There are nice playgrounds and shelters at all the campgrounds at Thomson Causeway. ( all closed temporarily due to COVID-19) Most sites were already reserved for the weekend. Lots of wildlife, birds and turtles! We even had an eagle soaring over our site. If you’re a senior don’t forget to use your pass!

For Thomson Causeway: Stayed Wednesday Sept 21, 2016 in the Potters North camping area, lot 68. Beautiful riverfront, concrete site on the main channel side of the river (the shoreline is heavily rocked with rip-rap, so I don't believe you'd want to try to beach a boat at this site). Sites on the slough side are also nice, as are the landlocked sites. Electric only, with no water or dump at the individual sites. Potable water is available to fill your tanks. Electric box had 50 amp, 30 amp, and 15 amp sockets. A large, clean, four-hole dump site is located near the park entrance and is free for overnight campers ( $5 for non- campers). Our area had a nice bathroom located in it, and was a short walk to a large bathroom/shower house which had a pop machine and an outdoor theatre area next to it ( I assume they show movies on weekends). There are some pull-through sites.

This a VERY nice campground : beautiful level sites, very well maintained, most sites are located on an island-type area reached by a road over a causeway. There are hiking trails (wooded and prairie), bike paths, a boat ramp, lots of places to fish from the bank and many sites are either on, or have views, of the river. This campground is a favorite of both locals and travelers, and it fills up quickly, so call ahead and make a reservation if you can--- particularly if you are traveling during busy times like weekends or want a riverfront site. Our Wednesday night site was open, but it was already reserved for the following three nights. The posted rates were $14 and $20, with our concrete, riverfront site being $20.

For Thomson Causeway: Very nice quite campground with a beautiful view of the Mississippi River. Lots of wildlife as it is located inside a nature preserve. Concrete pads with 30 & 50 amp service. Fill up with water as there is no water at the sites. There are faucets at different locations to get fresh water however. Lots of remote parking in case you need it. Bring your kayak as you can explore the shoreline. The main channel is some distance away so there is not much if ant current. The water is very shallow. Just a short drive (can ride a bicycle) into town which has a bicycle shop and nice small restaurant. I camped here in a 40' motorhome pulling a 24' car trailer. Had one of the best partially shaded sites with a fantastic view, #59.
