For Slip Bluff County Park: Really a beautiful, quiet small campground! Yes, the last 5 miles into the park are gravel...the road is narrow & hilly, but only slightly washboard and very scenic as you drive by meadows, pasture land with lots of cows and nice little country farm homes. I arrived about noon on a Friday in late September, worried on the way that there may not be any open sites. What I found was 5 of the 11 sites occupied, the campground very well shaded by a canopy of large oak trees, and pretty good facilities. In 80-degree days, the shade kelt the temps in the 70's. Most campers, including myself, set up on the south side of the circular ground...the side with the self-registration kiosk. The sites are all well-leveled hard pack gravel with an electric box, picnic table and metal fire ring at each. The sites on the north side of the circle (which is where the one pull-through is located) are just as nice, but the main drive around to that side is somewhat steep, a little rutted in the middle and butts up against the woods, which may make backing in a little challenging for larger rigs. There is a large metal facilities building at the low end on the south side with M/F restrooms. Walk or drive the trail past that and you'll find some tent-only sites...secluded, scenic and out of sight of the RV sites. Take that trail a bit further down the slope by foot and you'll find a beautiful shaded, grassy glen surrounding a fair sized pond...very peaceful and a prime picnic area. From the pavilion bench at the top of the ground I looked over a vast plain of farm fields, with 2 harvesters gathering the corn crop and taking turns emptying their hoppers into an open bed tractor-trailer, which would drive off down a long gravel road and return a little later, empty and pulled into position for the next load. The campground is about 1 mile from I35, so when the wind was just so, I did catch a little traffic noise, but all-in-all the place is very quiet & peaceful. Withheld 1 start for no dump station. However, there is a well water stand spigot across the drive from the facilities building. Will definitely add this to my favorites. $20/night RVs (includes 30 Amp), $15/night tents.

Don
For Slip Bluff County Park: A great county park with 10+ rv sites with electric at each site. Also water and showers and restrooms available at park. Lots of hiking trails, fishing and other recreational items like horseshoe pits, picnic sites and playground. Each site has ring for fire and grill for cooking. Is 5 miles down a dirt road. Google maps took us right there. It is only accessible by foot from the rest area. Also has boat ramp and horse trails too. We stopped while returning from Minnesota and only stayed one night, but was so nice we stuck around till early afternoon the following day.

For Slip Bluff County Park: On a hill. Wooded. Sitess are leveled. Self registration. Mid March water was on but shower house closed. We were the only ones. Close to highway but noise was not bothersome. Garmin said you could get there directly from rest area. Google said that it's a foot path not a road. We trusted Google more and took the long way around.
