Scott from Florida

For Prairie Ridge: As it was two years ago, beautiful campground with potholes and really really bad 3 miles of washboard gravel road and dust to get here. electric only and decent interwebs but bring your own water, even to wash the windows that will be covered with dust. Worse washboard gravel roads that beat my 20 years of Army reservation board. The dust on the 3 miles of county gravel roads to get here will give Ft Irwin in the Mohave Desert a good run. At the campground boundary, gravel and oil road in the campground with wheel breaker holes from some horror movie. Deferred maintenance from before the 2022 review? Embarassed to be from Iowa in this instance.

Grampaloren

For Prairie Ridge: Sadly, this is the worst Army Corps park I've ever seen. 2 1/2 miles of unmarked mud or washboard (depending on the weather) road to get there. Park roads are potholes. The A loop campground is 2 miles from the showers and the showers are so disgusting you wouldn't wash your dog there. Daddy Long Legs arachnids everywhere in the showers/toilets. I killed dozens every day and didn't even make a dent in the population. Showers were hosed out occasionally but never cleaned once in two weeks we were there. Right on Rathbun Lake and the campground never filled up, even on weekends. That tells you something right there. Hosts were friendly and it's a beautiful location but don't go unless you have no alternative.

Scoop

For Prairie Ridge: One of my favorites. Nice and quiet. Water is in loop B, not A, if you need that.
