For Malaekahana State Recreation Area: Pretty beach, close to North Shore, Cultural Center, and good eating places. Clean bathrooms, cold water shower, large campsites. Must get permit ahead of time and there is a short stay duration. Camping isn't a big pastime on the island but this park is nice. Some of the local street people wonder in for a quick shower but don't bother anyone. There is no campground host which would make it a much nicer park. I would be cautious about leaving stuff during the day if other campers aren't around due to the remoteness. Beautiful setting and beach. Felt safe.
