For Fort De Soto Park: We came here right after a stay in Fort Wilderness. It was definitely not a let-down. We had a site in the pet area, our pup was the only one we saw the whole time. Our biggest mistake was staying only 3 nights. We could have stayed much longer, there is so much to do in the park and in nearby St. Petes. Great sites and clean facilities.

Charlie and Lynn
For Fort De Soto Park: Charlie and Lynn leave in Clearwater FL and have visited Ft DeSoto Park over 40 years. Tent camping has been excellent, safe, clean restrooms and showers, well groomed and maintained. This year 2018 purchased Mallard M27 and camped in RV section February and again in March, excellent time. We have had family in tents and RV excellent experiences...check in easy, polite staff... each site has water, electricity, easy access to either of the two dump stations. We have own wifi so no information on their availability. We have already set reservations for returning in August and September

Lola Belle
For Fort De Soto Park: Really beautiful place. The campground is great all the sites are big with lots of plants and green between sites. I was there when a storm went through and saw the plus and minus of the sites on water. Mine had a mangrove buffer I was very happy for as the wind was intense. Biking was great , I will return.

DaVida
For Fort De Soto Park: Best kept secret in FL, some water sites are without views due to mangroves, can be dry n dusty, inside sites are HUGE. We especially enjoyed the pet-free loop, wild raccoons roam freely. Bathhouses kept clean, laundry available.

Ashley
For Fort De Soto Park: Favorite campground of our vacation! It is stunningly beautiful! Very shady, Palm tress, other trees and hard un paved roads. The sites are long, water and electric only. Lots of tress dividing every site. I really don't think there is a bad site here from just looking around.
We stayed two nights. We absolutely wish we had started vacation on this side of Florida and we would have stayed here longer.
We will be returning next year and for longer.
The beautiful beach is a short easy drive in the car. Lots of sand dollars and snails and crabs and starfish to view in the clear waters.
It's just beautiful!!
As others have said; prepare to get ire by bugs or live with bug spray on your skin.
Also, the old military Fort is awesome to tour. Great photography opportunities atop the fort too. Stunning views.

Sachmo
For Fort De Soto Park: Almost all sites are shaded and many are on the water. Lots of trees and foliage. One of the nicest waterfront campgrounds in Florida. All sites and roads are unpaved but well maintained.

DaVida
For Fort De Soto Park: Absolutely our favorite park. Quite popular so reservations for sites along the shore are precious. Some sites are narrow, but long. Ample foliage for privacy. Bathhouses are clean, laundry available. Paved, winding bike trails are several miles long to both fishing piers and beaches. Yes, raccoons are entertaining as they seek to steal whatever you leave out. No-see-ums can be vicious if no wind. But, still, great park if one gets in.
