For Highlands Hammock State Park: We loved this park! Some sites are close together, but not all of them. Very quiet . Great trails and tram. Lots of wildlife. We stayed in site 119 in a 23 ft trailer and liked it.

For Highlands Hammock State Park: Friendly staff. Stayed two nights, trails in the park were fun to walk and the bike loop trail was beautiful. Saw gators and walked on boardwalks. Campsite very tight for a state park. Felt on top of each other. Lots of loose dirt…

For Highlands Hammock State Park: Friendly staff, and fairly quiet. There were a couple of barking dogs and some fireworks, but we did stay over New Year’s Eve. Sites are close together, when we put out our slideout, it felt dangerously close to the neighbors fire ring. On the other side of our RV there was a tree, so we couldn’t put our canopy out. No sewer, so you have to make a run to the dump station as needed, with a portable tote. Not enough washers/dryers for the park, and we had to run the dryer 3 times to get our things dry. Park is located in the boonies, it’s about a 20 min. drive to get to town for supplies. They do have a store at the campgrounds with limited hours. If you get a chance, try the local ice cream they sell, it’s amazing. They were out of firewood the entire time we were there, so that was a bummer. We went all through town hunting for firewood, never found any so we had to do our s’mores in the microwave. Can’t beat the price, stayed for 3 nights. We loved the hiking trails at this park, especially swamp trail & fern garden trail. Tons of wildlife to see- gators, turtles, deer, pigs, water moccasin, variety of birds. They also have a tram tour you can pay for, which we felt was worth the $. It was interesting, informative, and they took you into the restricted areas of the park. There is also a museum on site, but we didn’t have time to check it out. Lots of geocaching within the park as well, so that was fun.

For Highlands Hammock State Park: Although the campground was full and pretty tightly packed, it was beautiful and well kept. A nice hike was available nearby. The walking trails are a good walk or bike ride away, or a short drive, but the scenery is very interesting and varied. I would recommend two nights here to take full advantage of the interesting site.

Larry

For Highlands Hammock State Park: All the sites are way too small and too close. If you are in anything longer than 17 foot, you will be providing entertainment for all your new, very close neighbors while you back in. We watched one hit a picnic table, another I had to stop before he hit the tree next to our camper and we had to move our truck from our site for another to get out. Every day that we have been here (leaving early) maintenance people have been running chainsaws and heavy equipment all day, all around us. The trails are nice but you'll have a better stay in a busy Wal-Mart parking lot. If you come anyway, bring lots of extra extention cord, water hose and ear plugs. They should be advising campers about this stuff when making reservations.

For Highlands Hammock State Park: Sites very close together with no privacy ( like a private campground, not a state park)Odd hookups. Stars are for the hiking trails
