For Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park: Large level flat sites in the Sandhill section. Not much tall vegetation between sites which add to a prairie feel. We stayed at site 18 which was on the end. The power pole did not have the 120v working so we had to charge bike batteries inside the van. Otherwise power and water weee good. The water tasted fine. The shower facilities were in the middle of the circle, not really close to anyone. If someone was handicapped it would be difficult to get there. The water was hot, but the water didn’t drain well. My husband said he stood in 5” of water. If our van was larger and was self contained this would be a non issue but I am not. Verizon signal was just ok. We could watch a basketball game on an iPad but loading a newspaper took forever. Go figure. I would stay here again but just long enough to bike a few rails to trails in the area.

For Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park: A nice state park woodsy feel for sure. Our site was quite sandy and a bit unlevel after some rain, but it worked. We were able to walk from our site on some nearby trails and explore around the park. A fun few days.

For Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park: We were looking for a place to stay in the general area for one night to break up a long drive. We're self-contained in our 25 foot MH and don't use the facilities except for an occasional shower. We stayed on a Saturday and Sunday night in mid-May. This CG was so pleasant, we extended our stay. We called for a reservation the day of our arrival, a Saturday, and got the last RV site. The SP has campsites in 2 areas - Sandhill and Lake View. We camped in Lake View. There are only 4 sites with a view of the lake (68-71) and these are relatively small and open. All sites are hardpack sand/grass, most are level with a mix of sun and shade. Most sites are quite large and variety of shapes and sizes with some greenery for privacy. The bathrooms were clean and spacious. The showers had ample hot water. There was good ATT and weak yet usable Verizon cell coverage at Lake View. Both were good at the Sandhill sites. We walked through the Sandhill sites and they were similar to those at Lake View. The staff were friendly and helpful.

For Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park: Spent 3 nights March 1 site 46. Nice level site. Neighbors kind of close. Very nice campground. The trails are spectacular and the showers are, too. Very clean and hot water. Close to good bike trails. Sad about the lakes in this area. Used to be a lot of nice lakes but the aquifer is dropping due to population. Some of the lakes on the map don’t exist. I would probably look at the other loops next time other than lakeside. They looked a little nicer to us. Very nice check in experience.

Jamie

For Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park: We have stayed here several times, twice in the last year. The campground is clean and the sites are well kept. There are two main camping areas, Sandhill and Lake View. Recently we have stayed in sites 38 and 39. These sites are HUGE! You have enough room for several vehicles in addition to your camper/RV. You need a long water hose or an extension in some sites as the spigots are set way back on the site. Plenty of space between campers too on most. Bath houses have washer/dryers, showers, and are kept clean. There are plenty of hiking areas too. There are no stores on site, but ice and fire wood are available.
