For Carter Lake County - Eagle: First, the positive: the setting s peaceful and beautiful. The camp host was very nice. Now the negative: We have a 37’ coach. The roads into this place are awful. Speed limit wss 10, but even at 3, things went flying everywhere because the blacktop is fractured beyond repair. Low branches were constantly knocking the top of the RV. Even with pads, we couldn’t get level in our site. There were big, thick pine branches blocking the front of our pullthru site. There were other large rigs (mainly 5th wheels) here. I would not stay here again unless I could go in and scout for a level unimpeded site. Otherwise, I do recommend this campground.

For Carter Lake County - Eagle: Let me start with the good. The campground had wildlife coming right through the sites in the mornings and evenings. The campground is on a nice reservoir. The bathrooms were clean. The showers were clean but there were a couple issues while we were there. The showers operate by tokens, $1 each/2 min for 6 min. One womens shower didn't come on, another gave half the minutes, a mens shower was missing a handle, and one day the token machine was not working or empty, without signage to say. One of the men's showers were not working but no signage. The campground was clean and pretty quiet. We fulltime RV around the country and this campground had some of the worst roads and washouts I have ever seen. There has been NO maintenance for years on this place. The parking lots were just as horrible. There is a pile of gravel on premises and a tractor at the office but nobody to do the work. I hit my sewage dump valve twice on the deep ruts. I was told that the county's priority is making a larger swim beach and large parking area. Looked like the campground, which provides county revenue has been put to the bottom of the list. The camp host was nice but I could tell he was frustrated with the lack of support from the county too. To fill water tanks on camper was another very difficult task as 2 of the hose bibs were extremely difficult to access without damage to your rig and the other was on a parking lot that is hard to get at unless you ignore the signage about no trailer turn around which was inaccurate. If the county spent some time on the roads and sites repairing the washed out roads and sites I would recommend this place but not until that is done. Verizon service was 0 at the low end of the hill and 1 bar at the upper end.
