For KOA Placerville: We were excited to visit Placerville KOA after reading the reviews posted by others. After we booked our reservation, we got an email stating the resort was no longer affiliated with KOA. I called to confirm that we bstill had a reservation and asked if the nightly rate would be adjusted downward since they are not affiliated with KOA. They said no, so we were really bummed that we vwould not be receiving KOA points for our stay and the nightly rate was the same. The RV park now goes by Placerville RV Resort & Campground. We booked a pull thru site since we have a 40’ DP and pull a 30’ trailer. Our site did accommodate our rig, but it was so narrow, that we could only put slides on one side! If we put out the other slides, they would hit the trees after extending only 8”. The site did have 50 Amp service and water, but no sewer. They did have a dump station, but the layout was so poorly designed that required us to unhook our trailer in the parking lot, dump, and then rehook the trailer back to our rig.
The wi-fi was very inconsistent and was very frustrating to use. The roads and RV were mostly dirt with some gravel. When we drove in, it was like a dust bowl. Our coach and trailer were covered with a thick coating of dust. We like to keep our rig looking nice and clean. Can’t keep it clean at this campground
During our stay, the park was probably less than 25% full. One of the staff must have been designated as the park ranger. He would come to our site and tell us not to park on the grass-I thought-what grass! There was no green grass at our site. There was a lot dead grass that had been mowed, dead weeds and sand burrs which were constantly being tracked into our coach. If they are going to have grass, then it needs to be watered and the weeds maintained.
On one occasion, a friend came to have dinner with us. While we were eating, the park ranger came and told our guest that he was not parked in the guest parking area and he would have to move his vehicle immediately! He wouldn’t let us finish our dinner. It wasn’t like the park was overwhelmed with campers and visitors.
We were very dissatisfied with this campground. I wished I could give this place a ZERO rating. We have traveled over 6 weeks on our trip and stayed at some very nice resorts that had the amenities you would expect at a resort. The nightly fees that Placerville RV Resort & Campground were outrageous compared to the other resorts we stayed at.

For KOA Placerville: Spent three nights here at one of the best places we have stayed at for a long time.
Everone with whom we came in contact was kind and helpful. Sites are large and well separated in most areas - there was an are set apart for longer term victors but that was tidy and clean. Excellent pet facilities and place was kept very clean and tidy. Vitiate was at start is season so park not full but there are plenty of activities available. Whole place kept very clean with what appears to be garbage cans at each site. We will be back!figury

For KOA Placerville: The Shingle Springs/Placerville KOA is definitely worth a few days stay. We stayed in site 22 which was a Full Hook Up pull through and very level for our 28’ TT. Site 22 was nicely shaded by an oak tree and it appeared most of the other sites were very well shaded by oak trees as well. The texting system utilized by the staff allows you to text questions and get immediate answers, plus they notify you of any events going on at the KOA.
Check-in was a breeze and they even brought us all warm cookies to the truck while waiting.
WiFi was very fast and we were able to stream AppleTV movies and shows.
The pet area was very large with nice green grass and plenty of shade.
The fishing pond looked very nice, but we did not have time to use it. The kids play structure was enormous and easily entertained my 5yo for hours.
The pool was very nice, clean and became the family movie area Friday and Saturday nights with free popcorn and bottled waters for everyone. The staff is amazing! Customer service is rock star. Seriously, the employees and owners go above and beyond what you’d expect. A special shout out to Jay, for the late night grocery delivery while I was setting up my campsite.
We did not get a chance to use the mini golf, game tent or the petting zoo, but it’s those amenities that separate this KOA from others. The Shingle Springs/ Placerville KOA is VERY family friendly and I would highly recommend this KOA to others.
