For KOA Holiday Ventura Ranch: An unusual KOA that is bisected by a county road and serenaded day and night by a flock of wild peacocks. If you’ve never experienced the call of the peacock, it’s loud, more like a child screaming than a bird singing. The few pull-throughs are nice and wide; many of the back ins are not. It has a lot of facilities and stuff to do as reported below by Toni. During our visit, there was a constant flow of trucks down the county road from before 8 am until about 4 pm weekdays.

For KOA Holiday Ventura Ranch: Unfortunately, there was a fire here last year and they are starting over. There is currently NO LAUNDRY AND NO CABLE HOOK-UPS. They’re clearly working hard to get everything back together again, but call before you book and VERIFY that they have what you’re expecting. Friendly staff. The pricing does not reflect the downgrades. This is our second bad KOA experience in the last 6 months. Previously we ended up in a KOA that had been flooded by the river. Our spot was a mud hole and smelled of sewage. The staff here, and the staff there, did not feel a need to notify us of the flood or fire situation. We feel they should, and that they should offer a discounted rate. We’re feeling duped by KOA lately.

For KOA Holiday Ventura Ranch: Tight. Very tight! If you're pulling a trailer, okay. I called and asked if my 40ft plus 20ft trailer would fit. Mathematically challenged kid working the desk said. ?No problem'. I'm just glad after getting there and leaving, that I didn't peel the side off my rig. Diesel pushers and big fifth wheels might have an issue.

For KOA Holiday Ventura Ranch: this is among the most enjoyable campgrounds of any koa for both tenters and rvers and those who prefer cabins or teepees with all the comforts of home.
the location and set up let you feel as though you are really camping in nature. spots are all amply sized and located in such a way as to not see a bunch of parked together rvs or grouped tents or cabins. pine trees are abundant and bushes and in some areas grass, star jasmine and flowering bushes . and peacocks galore who put stru there stuff on the grounds and roost in the trees at night. they are very vocal. at night u can hear cayotes. in the bush be alert for snakes- the park does catch and release rattlers , one eorker said about 5 last year.
be prepared for alot of walking up and down hills if you want to make use of the huge pool ( heated by solar, but solar wasnt working when we were there so very very cold) , zip line, rock climbing wall, large jumping pillow and playground. there is also a gold/gem mining sluice. the activity items are all located in the lower area by the teepees, so if you are ( as we were) by the office area its about 1/4 mi walk.
the pine area is were we stayed in a 35 ft fifth wheel. there are about 5 or 6 pull throughs and also some generously sized back ins.all slots are pretty level, have table and grill/ fire put. some have a brick patio with table and chairs. the pine area is the only one with full hookups-- all others are electric/water or some dry. there is a service that will come by to clean u out and fill your tanks-- but there is a dump by the entrance too.
the entire park is clean, as are the facilities. staff are helpful and ontop of things that need fixing.
we were there the week before labor day snd it was very wuiet. by memorial day friday it was getting pretty filled.

For KOA Holiday Ventura Ranch: Absolutely the best KOA we have ever stayed in. We were in a Penthouse Cabin which was beautifully decorated and equipped with everything we needed (linens, kitchen appliances, utensils, etc). The park is clean well laid out. There are plenty of activities for kids and adults. The staff was very helpful and professional. We highly recommend this park.

For KOA Holiday Ventura Ranch: It is a work in progress, the zip line is a cool thing. KOA is making upgrades to it and that's cool.

For KOA Holiday Ventura Ranch: This was our second time here. We stayed in late Sept 2013 with 2 other families. Had a water / electric spot in the birch campground and LOVED it. The park bathrooms and showers were right up the stairs. Clean always available and a good supplement for full hook ups. The site we had was #37-39. Great sites with a large shaded area. Not much grass at these sites (grass is in the center sites). Going to get these sites again next time. Tips.....get a golf cart early and please supervise your kids!!!! ( the park needs a bit more mature staff by the jumper. Other than that we still LOVE this place. We WILL be back
