For Manchester State Park: We stumbled upon this place while staying at the KOA next-door. It is one of very, very few California state park campgrounds that accepts no reservations. It is entirely first-come, first-served. And it’s a nice campground with level sites many of which are well shaded and all of which are within earshot of the ocean. Some sites have a distant view of the waves rolling in. There is no water, electricity or sewer at the campsites but water spigots are scattered about and a dump station is available. The campground hosts are delightful. The cost is $35 a night and seniors get a $2 discount.
