For Thornhill Broome Family Camp - Point Mugu State Park: I didn’t actually camp here. My one-star rating is only because I had to give a rating in order to leave what follows: A storm has washed out the exit from this campground and there’s no place to turn around and leave with a big rig, whether it’s a motor home or a trailer and tow vehicle. They’re totally serious about the 31-foot overall length limitation. I pulled in expecting to “make it work” (as I often have) with my truck and 26-foot trailer, (I’m quite skilled at backing up and could have left the same way I entered) but staff was adamant about my being too big. Totally my fault for not believing the length caution on the website. Sooo, measure before you reserve and don’t be thinking you can talk your way around the 31-foot rule.

For Thornhill Broome Family Camp - Point Mugu State Park: We reserved a spot in this campground, if you want to call it that. Windswept location on road paralleling state highway 1 with plenty of road noise. Only real amenities were chemical pit toilets and a garbage bin. No showers, and even through there were showers at a park run by the same state park system two miles up the road, they made it clear that we could not use them. I gave it two stars only for it’s ocean view. We didn’t stay!

For Thornhill Broome Family Camp - Point Mugu State Park: Host was great guy. Each site is essentially the right side of the drive and you need to parallel park your camper on most sites. Each camper thus faces the ocean and is amazing. Cold shower to wash of sea water and portolets. No power but no one seemed to run a generator around us and that us great. No cell coverage. Can see Channel Islands in clear days. Love the place

For Thornhill Broome Family Camp - Point Mugu State Park: Gorgeous spot! Beautiful beach view but no showers and some noise from the highway. We came in mid October and had plenty of space and privacy. Magical and a great value. $35 a night.
