For Sandy Flat Campground: We stayed here with our 37’ TT. This is a pretty tight camp site, many turns and some tight areas between trees and boulders. Definitely worth the effort to get here though. We stayed at site 23 as well as it is the largest site they have that is level and doesn’t put the back end over a cliff! Pretty steep grades in and out of the site with some bush limbs overhanging the side of the road in some places. Great ambiance with the sound of the rapids. Generator hours are from 0600-2200.

For Sandy Flat Campground: This is a beautiful campground right on the rapids of the Kern River. I don't know why the named it "flat" as it is quite hilly with narrow and windy roads to get in. We had a 30 foot motorhome and barely fit. There were only a couple sites we could fit in. Number 23 works and is down at the river level. Bob Lewis, the camp host, keeps the place spotless. Good water from the spigots. One mile down river just down from the raft launch at Hobo Campground is a fabulous hot springs with very nice pools.
