For William Heise County Park: Great camping find in the mountains just hour and a half from San Diego. Lots of trees, quiet except for the birds, turkeys and other critters. Park is pretty clean with flush toilets and bath houses. We stayed in RV area with electric/water hookup, dump station on site. Lots of trails for hiking, beware hiking trails are steep so be prepared. There are cabins and tent areas, too. The weekends fill up with lots of families with lots of kids with bikes and scooters so be diligent and stay alert. Park staff are very friendly and we felt safe on the grounds. Our site was #40, a pull thru, with picnic table and fire ring and lots of shade trees. We stayed Monday to Friday, but big rigs started pulling in in groups by Thursday night. it was a short drive to Julian and Santa Ysabel to visit many wineries, bakeries, little gift shops, etc. I highly recommend this county park but make reservations ASAP especially if you can only make on a weekend.

For William Heise County Park: This is a really nice park with a great staff. Six stars if I could. Plenty of seperation between sites. 30/50 amp and water have already been added to the second loop (22-40).

For William Heise County Park: Water was added to the 20 sites in area one. Sites 22 through 40 are in construction to add electric and water. Have always loved this campground enjoyed going into Julian for breakfast. There's also an old mine tour and Julian.

Ready to camp
For William Heise County Park: Amazing campground. Everything is clean, this is a beautiful place. We stayed in our RV, there are 20 sites that have electricity, 20,30 and 50 amps at the site. There is a dump site that also has a fresh water station to refill your RV. Restrooms and showers were clean. Some RV sites were not level so bring a few blocks to level your rig. Hiking trails were great too. On the negative side; flies! The flies will drive you insane during the day, bring a fly strip.
Overall we will return.
