For Refugio State Beach: Great campground, standard bathroom conditions with warm showers, awesome fire ring, and great beach. The train did go by a few times but wasn’t a big deal and we were in a site closest to the tracks. Staff was super helpful and the firewood was dry, abundant, and only $6. Pump outs just south on the 101 at the next state park. We’d go back.

For Refugio State Beach: Easy access off the motorway and right on the beach so fall asleep to the sound of the waves. Could do with a little tidy up, the bathrooms are pretty basic and its fairly expensive ($40+ a night). But it is California I guess and a great location. The hosts were very helpful too.

For Refugio State Beach: This has an amazing bike-in site right on the beach apart from most sites and close to bathrooms. It’s 12 miles from Goleta and $10/person for the bike site. Train makes a crazy racket at 2:00am. I really likes it. RV sites are tight and it’s rowdy when I’ve car camped. However, is a great cove, better than El Capitan in my book

For Refugio State Beach: Wonderful campground right near the beach. Long beautiful beach with nice sand and at low tide it goes on and on. Interesting tide pools with anemones and clams. Beautiful palm trees and a lot of great trees for climbing. Playground. A lot of nice showers and bathrooms. Looking forward to coming back again!

For Refugio State Beach: Expensive and tight. Beach doesn't allow dogs anywhere near it, and good thing because some dogs at people's camp sites looked out of control. We had somewhat sketchy people show up and walk around just after dark. Had to make sure everything was put away and locked before going to bed. Not horrible for so-cal camping, but definitely so-cal.

For Refugio State Beach: Wife and I have been going for years now. First trip with my 4yo and 2yo this year. Absolutely awesome, every time. The boys love the train, the sound is the highway is in the distance, but not overpowering. The sites near the beach are worth it all. Stayed in a 32ft RV, fit just fine. Fire pits are perfect, looks like they recently cut down some overgrowth. We visited late September. There is a reason you have to book 6 months in advance.

For Refugio State Beach: Overpriced lovely views dry campground needing to be upgraded. Noise from freeway and rail are annoying. Stayed in 30-ft RV. Quite tight.
