For KOA Holoday Benbow: We stayed at the Benbow KOA for spring break 2024. The staff is super helpful and friendly. Check-in was a breeze. Since it was Easter weekend, the campground staff hosted an egg hunt for the kids with an appearance from the Easter Bunny. It was pretty awesome!
We stayed in a FHU “comfort” patio site 52, with relatives staying in Tent Site T1, right across the road from our site. The RV site required minimal leveling and all hookups were well maintained. The site included patio furniture and a fire pit. The patio was nice since the grass was muddy from all the winter rain.
The showers and bathrooms appeared clean and maintained. The hot tub was open, but it was too early in the season for the pool and splash pad. The laundry room was large and had newer machines.
The gift shop had all the essentials for RVers and guests. There is also 2 arcade games, a Star Wars pinball machine and pool table in the lounge area of the front office. They have a small library of books and board games, dice and dominoes to use. The dog park area is on the smaller side, but there are some great pet walk areas around the resort. There is also a small 9 hole golf course next to the KOA.
The WiFi was good and able to stream. The cable was not so good due to limited channels and fuzz (could have been my fault).
The historic Benbow Inn across the way was a nice surprise with good food options, a full bar and traditional afternoon tea. It’s a short walk on a nice path or you can drive there.
We were within a few freeway exits of the Avenue of the Giants and a lot of other famous trees and redwood groves in the area. One exit away, in Garberville, there is a supermarket called Ray’s Food Place and an awesome Mexican restaurant called El Cora Restaurant. There are fuel options in Garberville as well.
I would definitely recommend Benbow KOA to others.

For KOA Holoday Benbow: This was an excellent find at night as a later arrival in the pouring rain. Very clean and paved RV pads. Hosts were very friendly and informative. Good course on-site as well and pool (closed for winter). We will definitely be coming back again.

For KOA Holoday Benbow: Nice RV park. We had a nice spot backing up to a creek with trees and blackberry bushes (spot 414).
Pros: Clean, well-maintained grounds. Friendly staff. Store is open 8:00AM- 10:00PM. Nice laundry, clean restrooms . Great path to Benbow Inn. East access to creek.
Cons: highway noise from 101. No internet at our site (414). No boosters to link the WiFi system throughout the park. Our cable tv was really snowy and the sound was bad. The people at the front counter never explained the wifi and cable situation to us. No fire pit in our space. Spaces are quite close together. No barriers between spaces.

For KOA Holoday Benbow: Overpriced. This is not a camping experience.this is basically “ parking lot†camping with hook ups. You can’t sit out Bc your neighbors camper is right in your face along with their sewer hoses. No fire rings or grills. Lots of people living here and in the cabins too. Traffic noise all night. Sketchy people hanging out here.
People were ( trying to), singing karaoke well past midnight on a Monday night.
We paid $70.00 for one night.
Save your money and go to a wal mart parking lot!

For KOA Holoday Benbow: I was here in early Jan so a lot of stuff was shut down for the winter, pool and area looked nice. If you golf they have a small coarse, I don’t so I didn’t study it that much. Check in was easy and the lady was very friendly. I have two dogs which I pick up after every time, a lot of their quests don’t. I know this isn’t a park problem but the dog walk area was so disgusting I won’t let my dogs walk in it. When I went to dump my tanks [ I had full hookups ] the sewer backed up all over the ground, wonderful. You are right on why 101 but it does get quite at night. In a pinch I would stay here again but I’m looking for other alternatives on my way back home.

Canuck
For KOA Holoday Benbow: Although open year round many of the amenities were closed down at this time of year (March). Sites are widely spaced, uneven asphalt and not very long. Our 32’ trailer filled the spot and we parked our truck at an adjacent empty site. All services are at the back of the site which is not great for our unit hookups. Cable was analog. Had to pay extra for WIFI. Convenient for the scenic redwoods drive. Minor highway noise.
