For Rancho Seco Recreational Area: We were looking for somewhere to spend the 4th of July away from fireworks and we found it. The park was very popular for day use on the 4th. We did not go to the day use/beach area, but our experience in the park was good. The staff handled the crowds/traffic well.
Once the day use crowd went home 6pm the park returned to a calm, serene scene that provided plenty of relaxation.
We were here during a heat wave with daytime temps soaring to 108 degrees, so during the height of the heat we enjoyed the air conditioned comfort of our rig (with no issues) and spent time outdoors in the morning and evenings.
The only down side was the weeds/stickers that our dogs were getting stuck in their feet. The green grass in the dog park was a sanctuary for them.
We will be back!

For Rancho Seco Recreational Area: Took our new 30ft TT there for our maiden voyage. Easy to find. Lake to enjoy. The lake is more for fishing seemingly. There is a small beach area, but we were there in Feb. So, I'm not entirely sure if they do allow swimming in warmer weather. Very quiet when we were there. Sites are wide with gravel pad. Minor adjustments will make you level without a problem. Clean, quiet, friendly staff. Staff seems to be "on it." They make you review and sign off on their rules when you drive in. (Quiet hours, pet rules and all that.) Would definitely return.

For Rancho Seco Recreational Area: Great park! We had 3 coaches together for a family camping trip. The park was clean & very quiet. Staff was friendly & helpful. Our sites were level but some sites needed work. The sites were spacious. The bathrooms & showers were very clean - but stainless steel is VERY cold! Cant wait to go back.

For Rancho Seco Recreational Area: Beautiful, well maintained campground with very level RV sites, all recently graded and new thick layer of rock has been laid down. Electrical is also being upgraded, so that 50 amp will soon be available. Very quiet in the off season, but very busy during the warmer months. $40/night for W/E hook-ups - $35/night with senior discount. Reservations must be made 72 hours ahead, or it is FCFS. We called the park directly (209) 748-2318 to find out there were spots available for today’s arrival. We were instructed to arrive before 3:30 (before kiosk closes), since we had no reservation. Super nice folks doing a great job with this park. Will certainly return when our travels bring us this way again. Easy 15-20 min drive off Hwy99.

For Rancho Seco Recreational Area: Choose site carefully, most are quite unlevel. Tall trees, but no shrubs for privacy, sites very close. Very quiet so far out in the country. Newer park with fishing lake, day use picnic areas. Push button showers with water saver sprayer heads don't allow enough flow to ever get hot. Very friendly staff let us shower in the office. Twin decommissioned nuclear towers are surrounded by solar panels along the entry road. Would stay again.
