For Railroad Park Resort: Late to review, but stayed 3 nights in Sept 2023. Wow. So happy we chose this. Just wanted to see the Shasta Area and use this unique spot as a jumping off point. I found we spent more time here in the park, just looking up at Castle Crags, Mornings and Evenings! We love this little park. 30amp, water and sewer in the forest???? I chose a site with full hookups for our little travel trailer. Just so happened that that particular site, you could go to the picnic table in the morning and look straight up through the trees to see an unobstructed view of the crags. Mesmerizing. Fun to take the short walk (200 yards, maybe) towards the resort of railroad caboose cars remodeled into guest rooms. While I did not use our pool privilege, I did spend time in the gazebo, one afternoon, just looking up at the mountains. Perfect place for that gazebo. Even a teeny train(ish) that's so cute for kids to take them down toward the RR resort portion of the area. Not free, but cute anyway for the little children. Super friendly staff. They saw me walking up towards the garbage bin, and asked if they could take it the rest of the way. THAT's never happened to me before at any park. Trees of all types and lots of shade. We'll return. Great visits to Dunsmuir, Mt. Shasta town and Lake Syskiyou.

For Railroad Park Resort: Pro: very nice camp sites with great WiFi. I had high hopes but circumstances turned poorly
Con: there was no warning that the showers and bathroom was closed for remodel. We had counted on the good reviews as this was our last camp before going home. Additionally the laundry dryer would not get hot but there was no warning. The host was unsympathetic and unhelpful. On top of all this we got charged $12 a night higher than advertised because we reserved the same day
Lastly, a traveling family carivan of RVs came in and was put right next to us en masse instead at the far end which was empty

For Railroad Park Resort: Arrived 5/12/2021 for an overnight. They were working on the potholes and road areas and it was difficult to find the way in but everyone we met were helpful in that regard. A cute, quiet and nice campground under the redwoods. We will definitely stay here again and may try out the railroad car rooms.

For Railroad Park Resort: My wife and I discovered this gem of a campground staying for the first time August 6-8 of 2020. The hottest that God was 91° for those three days but there was a nice breeze coming down the canyon and all of the campsites are surrounded by Pinetree‘s. We had a full hook up but only used our trailers air conditioning for about an hour on the last evening when the breeze died down. We found the park to be quiet and well-maintained. The lady in the front gate office observed social distancing when we checked in, wearing a mask and standing behind a plexiglass barrier. Very good compliance with safety recommendations during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. There are paths down to the creek allowing easy access to splash around in cool off. We saw some folks laying down in shallow pools, and there were several kids splashing and playing in the water. The creek is not deep enough to swim in, but I understand campers have access to a swimming pool and a hot tub at the adjacent railroad park a few hundred yards from the campground. We did not have a chance to try out the pool as we were too busy bicycling around nearby Siskyou lake and hiking inside the castle crags state park. We normally would enjoy dinner in Mount Shasta city, but did not partake this time because of social distancing restrictions. Conclusion: if you’re looking for a small campground with full hook ups, a babbling creek and lots of shade this is your place. We enjoyed it thoroughly and have already made reservations for this coming Spring.

Brian
For Railroad Park Resort: Adorable little campground with a true woodsy, stream-side feel. Very quiet and natural, not like a tight manicured rv park. You can hear the creek that runs by the park. Some spots are really close so be choosy if you can. And the hook ups are positioned strangely in some spots so bring your extra lengths of hoses and power cord. I’d recommend making your reservations early and getting a back in slot right next to the creek. That would be the best sound ever. I’m definitely coming back here again to fish the upper sac river in this section.

For Railroad Park Resort: Clean, simple park with hookups near a creek. We stay here at least once per year.

Linda
For Railroad Park Resort: Old, Dirty, cobwebbed bathrooms. Crumbling non level sites. Overpriced. The word resort makes a user think you are in for something special, not here.
