Rob
For Ma-Tar-Awa RV Park: I read a review that was very similar to my experience. The person who I spoke with over the phone was either clueless or incompetent. Was told that I could choose my own spot upon arrival, and that they would leave me access, if I arrived after hours. None of the information was accurate, or professional. The place is a dump, and no better than an empty field. Literally. I suggest staying outside of Alpine, and off the reservation, where they value clients.

For Ma-Tar-Awa RV Park: Read any of the other reviews on and you will have a good idea of what you're getting into. If you just want to be close to the casino or a local spot then this might work. 95% of the occupied sites are taken up by permanent residents.

For Ma-Tar-Awa RV Park: The website makes the park look fantastic and the price seems just right. Don’t believe it. The single worst experience we have had thus far on the road. The website shows multiple sites with full hookups. When we called to reserve a spot we were told we could choose our site when we arrived. When we did show up we were told to go to a different park across the road called Alpine Springs and choose a site. Alpine Springs is not mentioned on their website. When we got there there were no path markers to help identify our location. The entire park is on a hillside backing up to the freeway overhead so you’re traveling up steep hills with several dead ends. The roads are almost entirely gravel making backing up on the steep slopes difficult if not impossible. Most of the power pylons were damaged or destroyed. When we tried to leave the exit gate was chained closed. We had to call the office and have them send someone to let us out. The staff simply did not care and was rude and derisive to my wife. Avoid at all costs.
