For Main A/B - Alamo State Park: Some of the B-loop sites with electric and water are good-sized with nice spacing between sites, even some vegetation screening, and excellent views of the lake and mountains. However Some of the B loop sites with electric and water are truly awful - pick your site carefully! Zero cell phone or wifi service. We expected service with our signal booster but it was just a “barely” (super slow or no svc) and since we were working that was a problem. Seems like the Park personnel do not patrol like they should other than to check dates on tags. As with so many parks, grumpy elderly “hosts” only doing the minimum, not friendly, and housed in their own area away from everyone else so not around to know when problems are going on. We had no idea this is a major ATV riding area. No issues with ATVs (we ride too!) but should not be riding them nonstop thru a paved full svc campground; after a weekend of that we were sick of the noise. Major large party a few sites down with stereos blasting at night and the park personnel did nothing. I kept the 4-star rating because of the beautiful setting and wide spacing between *some* of the B sites, water and electric svc, and the lake fishing that we enjoyed. BTW, the Camp “store” has nothing but a few candybars and two kinds of soda - make sure you bring all food that you need! Road in is 36 miles of extremely narrow pavement, no shoulders, creepy towing a 42-foot fifth wheel but no problems, plenty of big rigs here in addition to ours. Campground roads very narrow but doable. This is really an OHV park that happens to have a lake with fish; it’s nothing like the other wonderful AZ state parks we have visited.

For Main A/B - Alamo State Park: It was spring break in Arizona when we stayed at Alamo Lake State Park. As a result our 4 night stay was broken up into 1 night at one site (Not very level). And 3 nights at another (very level and nicely separated from the other sites). A down side of this park is that it is extremely remote. From the main highway (US 60) to the park entrance is 38 miles. The road in has no shoulder. At the main park there is zero AT&T or Verizon coverage. The park has no wifi. There are some full hookup sites but they are basically laid out parking lot style. The best sites are the water/electric sites. Interestingly, if you drive to the alternate “primitive” sites we picked up excellent Verizon coverage and moderate AT&T. We stayed in a 32 ft., class A, with a toad.
