For Gila Bend FamCamp: Wow, the posts here about this military Gila Bend campground are way off the mark. First off, military beneficiaries only. 2nd the water you hook up to your camper has low level arsenic in it. 3rd there is a reverse osmosis tank at each site which yields about 2 gallons a day. 4th, this is a well used Air Force training base. About 2 million acres to practice dropping munitions. 5th, the staff are kind. This is a military post so infrequently you can and will be pulled over for a check. The security team is professional. Contractor service I think.
6th, there are olllllld timers who live here at the Family camp ground that they think they are owed certain things. This IS a FAMCAMP and meant for all beneficiaries so come on! 7th, The campground is spacious and 3 miles from town that has a dollar general and family dollar plus well stocked truck stops.
8th, you are about an hour from all the big stores. 9th, you Don’t need a reservation. Call the post lodge for an estimate of free spaces. Even better, you can dry camp till one opens. In 2021 this hasn’t been an issue. 10th, you are in an arid desert so there are critters but other than a distant coyote, it’s nice. 11th, NO, THERE ARE NO ILLEGALS HERE PASSING THROUGH STEALING STUFF. careful who you get info from. 12th Pam at the lodge is awesome. They have high speed internet at the lodge for you to use and many use their cell phone hotspots. The price is very very affordable. Again, don’t let anyone tell you they are “holding†a spot. It’s against the rules. This post from an old retiree who would like to see more young families. Ps. The free laundry is excellent. 3 stars only because of the reverse osmosis and know it all permanent campers.

For Gila Bend FamCamp: Have stayed here before with no problem. This time the rent-a-cop guard was a total jerk. Last time we will be staying here, even tho we like the park. Elks Lodge in Gila Bend much more welcoming. March 2019.

For Gila Bend FamCamp: Nice place just arrived phone is wrong call 6288565211 for reservations. Can stay here extended. Remote but level and restricted to military.

For Gila Bend FamCamp: Nice out of way campground but water is unusable to put in fresh water tank. They have a filter water system at your site where you can get good water but have to go out to faucet to use good water or bring in with a pot.
