For Cochise Stronghold Campground: Nice shady live oaks, mostly tent and van campers, anything big, tall, long wheelbase won't make it across a creek wash to get in there. Also, low cars won't make it through the deep water with steep approach angle. $10/night for a vault toilet. Nice trails.

For Cochise Stronghold Campground: This is a review of the DISPERSED CAMPING on FSR 4809 which is before you get to the Cochise stronghold CG. We are traveling in 36 ft 5 th wheels and when I called the cg a nice lady explained that we were too big for the cg, but there was a big dispersed area. So we drove down ironwood rd till we saw road 4809 then got out and walked in to see If we could make it and if there was any room. It was late and we needed a place to stop, and there was a couple of open places so we pulled in. I did scrape a tree work the 5 th wheel, not too bad, but scratches. And we set up camp. It's February 7 th 2018 and the grass is really tall, they don't mow. The spots are just worn areas with no grass, which is fine, but only 8 ft wide. It's beautiful here, sunrise is georgous. We're gonna hike today and leave the following day.
Nice enough, but tight. It's a rough washboard road into the area, but just go slow. 36 ft 5th wheel is about the max we would hit bottom in some of the washes if any longer. Motor homes would be fine. But don't go past road 4809 with any thing longer than 36 ft. Don't ask me how I know!
