For Dead Horse Ranch State Park: Everything said before was true for us. We preferred the uphill sites for their better views and lack of skunks, which “perfumed†Quail loop. Beware. The mesquite trees were dropping their leaves during our stay, which covered our rig, got in our shoes. Still, a great park with plenty of trails, close to Jerome.

RambleOn
For Dead Horse Ranch State Park: This has to be one of our favorites. Nestled along the Verde River and only a stone’s throw to old town Cottonwood gives a quiet and remote feel while still being close to town amenities. The park is immaculate. We stayed in Quail Loop closer to the river with more trees; the other two loops are higher up with long range views but fewer trees. All offers access to trails, while Quail is closer to trails along the river and to the three lagoons. Great place for riding bikes or hiking. Campgrounds were all paved, with well-spaced sites with trees for privacy. All are very level, asphalt surface, and good W/E hook. Bathhouses older but very clean, and nicely maintained. Two lane dump station oriented for inbound/outbound traffic. Dump station is clean has trash can available and easy in and out. Campsite reservation covers the $7 day-use fee. Excellent Verizon reception. Overall beautiful CG, and camp hosts were great.

For Dead Horse Ranch State Park: Great park. Do remember that this is the desert. 50 Amp and water at site. Convenient to Sedona and Jerome. ATT and Verizon worked here for us.

For Dead Horse Ranch State Park: Great state park. The shady sites are worth the extra $5. Excellent mtn biking and hiking trails. Water and electric hook ups but has a dump station. Good base location to explore Sedona and Red Rocks.

Meandering Life
For Dead Horse Ranch State Park: Nice place. Clean and the campground sites were fairly level. Short drive to alot of good attractions. Only complaint was the internet/cell service was spotty. Didn't work well during the day but late at night seemed better. Guess the tower can't handle too much activity

For Dead Horse Ranch State Park: Great state park! Level sites that are fairly well spaced. Very clean, great showers, really convenient to Cottonwood. The little signs showing the various loops and site numbers are really hard to read so try to arrive before dark. There are recycling bins scattered throughout which was a pleasant surprise. We will definitely return.

OffIsland
For Dead Horse Ranch State Park: One of our most favorite spots. We stayed here for two weeks and loved it. Beautiful views, lots of trails and friendly camp hosts. Large sites that are well spaced and fairly level. Very convenient as well to Jerome, Old town Cottonwood and Sedona. No WiFi but decent cell coverage. I did not use the restrooms or showers but heard from others that they were very clean. We will try to return next year.
If you are in the area make sure you go to Elote cafe in Sedona. One of the best, authentic Mexican restaurants. If you want to rent a bike try Verde Valley bikes, great guys and close to the park.
