For Canyon De Chelly National Monument - Cottonwood Campground: A great overnight stay (follow signs with camping/tent symbol). You can see it from highway but a convoluted way to get in.
Lots of cottonwood trees and well-kept park. Electrical connection in bathroom was nice for hair-drying.
Dump station and freshwater fill-up. However decided not to do laundry in town here because of comments on Yelp about water clarity.
Visitor center nearby, along with drive through Canyon De Chelly NM nearby.

For Canyon De Chelly National Monument - Cottonwood Campground: Navaho Park that is separate from Nat Monument but next to visitors center. 2 of 3 loops open mid-April. Almost full by 10 pm. All sites paved and close to level with picnic table and grill, with most well shaded. Clean flush toilets. Potable water at a few spigots around park. No showers.

For Canyon De Chelly National Monument - Cottonwood Campground: On a cold Tuesday night in February we were the only ones in the park. $20 cash only. The water is turned off for the winter except for the bathroom , which has flush toilets and was nicely heated. It’s a good stopover on the way to Zion.

For Canyon De Chelly National Monument - Cottonwood Campground: Perfect place to see Canyon de Chelly. $20 a night. Fresh water fill at the dump station. Very friendly staff, plenty of nice spaces. No hookups, no big deal. October 3rd, no air conditioning needed.

For Canyon De Chelly National Monument - Cottonwood Campground: This is a campground run by the Navajo Nation at the national monument. It’s FCFS. We came on a Thursday and were literally the only ones here. By Friday, there were 5 or so other groups. The campground has over 90 spots. It’s well shaded and well maintained. No hookups, no showers, but the bathrooms although dates were cleaned daily. Would for sure stay again. Word of warning, we drove by the other campground 9 miles away (spider rock campground) and it looked like a place we would have driven right by had we decided to stay there. I would choose this one hands down!!

For Canyon De Chelly National Monument - Cottonwood Campground: 6/20/2019. Spent the night in a class C with no problems. The night was quite and the dogs have been removed. I would gladly stay there again.

Jill
For Canyon De Chelly National Monument - Cottonwood Campground: Not bad for a Reservation campground. Paved, level sites, dump station and potable water to refill our tank. The do not take reservations, but have never filled up. Right next door to the Thunderbird Lodge and their tour company that takes people through Canyon de Chelly in the big 6 wheel drive off road vehicles.
