For Black Canyon Campground: Made reservations by phone stating be there around 9PM, staff said sure and would leave envelope with map of tent site location. Arrived and found no such envelope.😠called after hours phone , no answer. The whole place was creepy dark and filled with old RVs . I couldn’t leave fast enough. I highly recommend you speed thru Black Canyon and don’t even look at your rear view mirror.

For Black Canyon Campground: Friendly rustic upgrading spots as we speak. Best part it’s well away from the freeway.

For Black Canyon Campground: This, a former KOA, is not recommended- creepy - strange full time families- mixed with the goats, junked vehicles, not kept up at all. And they asked. $50 for after hours check in.

For Black Canyon Campground: Pulled in here for a overnight stay. Glad it's only 1 night and that we're moving to one of the real RV parks down the road tomorrow.
We pulled in and the office was closed. At noon. No greeting by the employee; no "hey how ya doin?" nothing of the sort. "Ya got a reservation?" he said angrily. I told him I called earlier and was told we had a pull-thru that can accommodate our extra vehicle(small car). He copped an attitude immediately while retrieving our reservation from the "arriving after-hours" bin.(remember, it was noon). "You didn't tell us that when you called" he said. "Yes I did and the woman I spoke to(who was super friendly) said I'm all set for a pull-thru so we don't have to unhook." He proceeded to get a little angry at the site the woman reserved for us. He chose a better site, one that could allow the extra vehicle. Otherwise I would've had to park the car in their "overflow" area. Which I would prefer not to.
The site isn't level(but that's what blocks are for), maybe 10 feet wide(if that), extremely cramped with the picnic table being on a cement pad. Of course, WiFi is an extra fee. Because what isn't at a KOA. On the up side, 4G LTE is great here. Being jumped on by the employees dog, not an up side. Just tell us your dog is a jumper that it has no training and we're fine.
Also, a heads up on their price gauging- Propane is $4.50 a gallon. Average price in this area is $2.50. This KOA is not in the middle of nowhere, not removed far from stores, no reason to have such an outrageous propane cost. There are definitely not a lot of "shade trees" as they claim.
This KOA will go on my list of bad KOA's. Which(believe it or not) has been every KAO I've stayed at. For the price of the stay, they should all be a lot nicer than they are; looks and customer service-wise. There are 2 other parks within nice range from here. I would recommend checking there and around Lake Pleasant, leaving this KOA as a last resort. I feel like I'm in an RV sardine can.
Also, I'm not too keen on the "dude" sleeping in a ratty tent near the overflowing, disgusting dumpster, with 2 dogs tied to the picnic table.
After reading other reviews I now know that the poop that's all over(seriously, it's everywhere) is from a goat that I guess lives on the property. I will make it a point to NOT stay here again. It's gross here. If we hadn't already paid(reservation over the phone), we would've turned right around and moved on.
