Mostly Happy Camper
For Denali Grizzly Bear Resort: I made a reservation with this property one day before arrival and was told that they only had one site available, there would be no refunds, and there would be no discounts. I drove to the campground and looked at the site they assigned me and then paid in full. The following morning I arrived at 10AM, parked in the main lot and stepped inside just to inquire if it was possible to check in early as there was no one in my assigned site. They informed me that I would need to wait until at least 11AM as there was someone in that site the night prior and they may return in the next hour. So I sat in the parking lot for the next three hours to continue to work before moving to the site. Next, about 1:00 I see another RV pulling into the site I was assigned. I proceeded to the office and told them I was ready to check in. They told me my site number, and it was not only not the site I was assigned the day before (the only one available) but was so close to the road within the campground that I could barely get my passenger site slide out without being in the road. But I did have a great view of the dumpster. Also, during the course of my stay I was talking to the camper adjacent to my original site and they mentioned that there was no one in that site the previous night. I suspect that they put the other RV in my assigned site because they were too big to have fit in the street side dumpster view site. I don't suspect I'll be back.

I am trying to figure out how to write this review. People are going to say Resort??? We you are in Alaska most RV Campgrounds are jus a gravel parking lot décor is not what they are working for.
Pros: This campground has potential, location is right idea is good.
Thai food truck in parking lot is the best thing going.
Cons: Office communication is atrocious. Customer service is non existent.
The most expensive campground I have stayed in with the exception of Yellowstone.
No pull throughs (they tell you on the one you are booking one).
No sewer hook up. They do have a dump station but you have to back 100 yards to get to it. (Right next to the hotel rooms, so I feel sorry for the guests in there in the morning)
Camp store is pitiful.
Staff attitude is terrible.
Highway noise is like being in a truck stop.
The power and water (water is pretty suspicious) pole is at the back of the camp site, so have a long hose and electrical cord.
My advice is just don’t go there.

High Latitude
For Denali Grizzly Bear Resort: I’ve been staying at Grizzly Bear every few years for probably the past 20 and it’s changed a lot. It’s gone from a nice little campground with some shag cabins, to more of a resort style atmosphere. Yes, lots of bus traffic, and when busy, the campsites are very tight. But there are some benefits as well. 30 amp plug ins, and water, although it’s slightly sketch well water, so I’d skip that. Onsite store has some provisions, although we were there during Memorial Day weekend (2019) and it was not stocked yet, although the gift store was full of merch. So ya, shame on them.... They do however have one of the very few onsite liquor stores.... Memorial Day weekend is also the annual Alaska Harley Group meet, so be prepared. Onsite food trucks are also pretty rare in Ak, so I consider that a benefit. They also have a couple covered gathering places. They have park WiFi but it cost money so we tethered, AT&T LTE was available. There are several bath houses with toilets through the park so that was very adequate and unusual actually. However, there is virtually nothing for kids to do, so keep that I mind. And there’s not much ‘wilderness’ experience to it either.
Bottom line, I still give it 3 stars though as it is a pretty good party campground, and that’s really what it is. No kids, just meet up with some others and have a good time.

For Denali Grizzly Bear Resort: If you like dusty parking lots with a LOT of EARLY BUS traffic, rest rooms that smell like a pit toilet, & pay 2 minute showers, kids were being showered with outside showers. Long grass that had not been cut or trimmed in a long time, food trucks & smells from them in the parking lot. Sites so close you could hear from both sides. Our slide out was only a foot from the neighbor table. This was NOT for us. We paid for 2 nights, stayed only 1 night & left with on refund, was glad to leave. Will NEVER GO BACK. I don’t think they are interested in the campsite business. As they have a Lodge that does not have A/C!! And it was in the high 80’s.

For Denali Grizzly Bear Resort: Great place , about 5 miles from park entrance. Has cabins as well. Clean. Free restrooms, pay wifi and showers. Hard to use dump but we used parks. Water 30amp only.
Average cost for area. $43 night. We would come back.
