Huge park! Very busy, even in December. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Sites are spacious, well maintained and park was quiet (after dark). Lots of trees which provided wonderful shade but also interfered with our STARLINK connection (spot 47). The road to Oakmont area was under construction which sort of isolated us from front of the park. Apparently the construction has been on-going for 2 years…. Trails are not marked very well (seems to be the norm for Texas State Parks) and since cell phone service is pretty much nonexistent, make sure to bring park map. The views from trails were wonderful, the Frio River water was running and clear. Some folks were fishing. Huge souvenirs shop in Oakmont area. There is a decent size store w/ few groceries & other camping necessities . The Grill cafe was closed when we were there. Overall nice park. Just a little to crowded for our liking.

beautiful area. Big trees, right next to river, clean bathrooms. Sites are big and open fires allowed. Perfect spot. Check in process is slow and long on Fridays.
