Why iExit Trucks Edition?
There are many great books and maps out there. There are other websites and apps out there. All of them have various positives and negatives. Which is why you are probably like me and wind up with multiple maps and books everywhere. And now apps. I usually like a certain aspect of each one.
How will this app help you?
Want to know where truck stops are and what is nearby? Want to know where every Walmart is located and which ones have been reported to allow and don't allow overnight parking? How about Kmart?
Services? We list all dealers for Kenworth, Mack, Peterbilt, Volvo, and Western Star. And how about Freightliner, Speedco, Eighteen Wheeler Wash, Blue Beacon Wash, Eagle Wash, CAT Scales, and Idleaire?
Favorites option lets you look for just what you like. You can also filter rest areas by the direction you're heading (of the overall interstate, not at the moment).
A manual look up feature provides information even if you don't have GPS or phone service. All data is stored on device. Is this better than other apps? We felt that super fast service and access without internet service along with on the road updates every few weeks is better than slow live web access that other apps use.
What makes iExit better than just a text list or map?
We love the books and the big laminated motor carrier maps but nothing can beat some of the features that can be used in an app like this. The favorites feature and just knowing where you are within seconds is the best. iExit also supports an offline mode where users can look up exits manually. This feature can be used in the event that GPS is unavailable or disabled or if you have an iTouch. So there is your old guide.
If you have phone service, you'll have the stores nearest to you listed as you travel. You'll have one click access to the phone number to call. iExit stores all point-of-interest data locally on the phone as opposed to a remote server. Because millions of people already use AllStays.com, the data is constantly being reported upon and updated. We're not just selling a one-time app and moving on. Travel information is a full time business.
FAQ:
Why doesn't it have fuel prices? Other websites/apps do.
Prices change fast and in most regions, prices are very competitive and try to match each other. Flying J is not going to stay 5 cents higher than a Loves for long. Most internet price services are updated every couple days, some only twice a week. So when one station changes it's price, you may only have those savings a few hours before everything aligns again. Although I could claim it as a feature, most of the time, the info would be wrong.
Why doesn't it have "Example" highway?
I started it with interstates nationwide. Then I added about 30 major state highways and will keep on adding more over time.
Why not list "Example" truck stop?
I recently added thousands of independents, as well as amenities like parking, lounge and a few others. But they are closing fast over the last year or two so the information is always changing.
